This series began after a 2025 residency at Annaghmakerrig House (Tyrone Guthrie Centre) in Ireland. In County Monaghan saw a huge blue hose/tube snaking through a flooded field, diverting water into a wooded area on the edge of that field. The gushing water exiting from the large hose created a fast-moving creek through the trees.
It was a striking image. I didn’t create sketches, or take photos, but I’ve tried to re-create what I saw, or what I thought I saw, even what may happen next in this place, how it felt, etc.
The visual experience took root in my brain and started a peculiar conversation I want to continue. The act of diverting water, or not diverting, could be a metaphor for many things. The snaking tube takes on a life of its own.
